BIOGRAPHY

Bernie Lawrence-Watkins is the founder of B. Lawrence Watkins & Associates, PC, a boutique law firm that specializes in the area of transactional entertainment law. Specifically, she represents artists, managers, songwriters, record industry executives, independent labels, music and film production companies and numerous music producers in production agreements with high profile artists for the production of master recordings. In addition, she provides consultation to small businesses relating to legal formation, business transactions and government related programs/contracting and serves as a federal lobbyist.

Prior to forming her law practice in 2003, Ms. Lawrence-Watkins worked as a Contract Compliance Legal Specialist for the City of Atlanta. In her position at the City, she served as a legal liaison to the Law Department, supervised certification specialists regarding the Equal Business Opportunity program and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program, implemented Equal Employment Opportunity and First Source Jobs program procedures.

Ms. Lawrence-Watkins frequently appears as a guest speaker and panelist at local high schools, and at seminars and conferences across the country. She periodically writes a column for www.pmpworldwide.com called “Ask Bernie the Attorney.” In 2007, she received the Metro Atlanta Community Champion Award from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and was honored by Rolling Out Magazine as one of Atlanta’s 25 Most Influential Women. Ms. Lawrence-Watkins has also been featured in Who’s Who In Black Atlanta in the years 2006 and 2007.

Ms. Lawrence-Watkins is an active member of the Black Entertainment and Sports Law Association, National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Smyrna Basketball Association/Board Member, Branch Banking & Trust Co./Local Advisory Board Member, United Way African American Partnership/Board Member and a volunteer for the Minority Business Development Agency MED Week Committee.

Ms. Lawrence-Watkins holds degrees in B.B.A. in Marketing from Howard University and a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

She is married and has two sons.
